“Jerry’s book “Intentionally Well,” has been nothing short of enlightening! It’s educational, relatable, reliable, and enjoyable explanations with fresh perspectives, it inspired me to seek out professional medical help to improve my future self. A few years ago I had a dangerous bacterial infection that destroyed all of the good flora in my digestive system. As a competitive athlete with access to coaches, trainers, and nutritionists, I thought I had a pretty firm understanding of the body I figured I would bounce back without question. Instead, most of my doctors, family, and friends constantly reminded me that this might be my “new normal.” It was a tough pill to swallow as I believed that I had the potential to live a better life on every level.
Perhaps I was too sick to understand, or I was in flat out denial. However, no one really explained the extent of how poor gut health might affect me in the bigger picture or long term. This book wholeheartedly resonated with me for the better. No matter how cleanly I ate or how often I exercised I gained weight, became distended, continued to be fatigued, suffered from inflammation, and other health issues followed. My cognition was so foggy, I had difficulty with simple recall and getting words out verbally for many months. It wasn’t until I read Jerry’s book that a few thoughts clicked for me regarding my journey. The more I read I started a list of questions for my health care providers. With a better understanding of my aliments and symptoms, related to gut bacteria and the specific hormones produced by the bacteria, I was able to improve my relationship with my health care providers. With a better understanding of what my body was trying to tell me all along, my doctor has been running tests that no one else thought to question over the past four years. For the first time in almost half a decade, I’m encouraged to believe that I will be able to finally protect my Future You, and my Future You is smiling for the first time in a very long time. I’m grateful for the opportunity to know Jerry and be able to fully appreciate his book! Thank you Jerry.”
